Manny Diaz: A Coaching Profile

Early Life and Education

Manny Diaz was born in Miami, Florida, in 1974. He attended Florida State University, where he played football as a safety. After graduating in 1997, he began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Florida State.

Diaz earned a master's degree in sports administration from Florida State in 1999. He then spent two seasons as a defensive backs coach at Middle Tennessee State University.

Coaching Career

In 2002, Diaz was hired as the defensive coordinator at Texas A&M University. He spent five seasons at Texas A&M, helping the Aggies to two bowl games.

In 2007, Diaz was hired as the head coach at Middle Tennessee State University. He led the Blue Raiders to three bowl games in his five seasons at the helm.

In 2013, Diaz was hired as the defensive coordinator at the University of Mississippi. He spent three seasons at Mississippi, helping the Rebels to two bowl games.

In 2016, Diaz was hired as the head coach at the University of Miami. He led the Hurricanes to a bowl game in his first season, and to the ACC Coastal Division championship in 2017.

Coaching Philosophy

Diaz is known for his aggressive defensive style. He believes in putting pressure on the opposing quarterback and forcing turnovers.

Diaz is also a firm believer in discipline and accountability. He expects his players to be tough, both physically and mentally.

Personal Life
